Motobatt chargers utilise Motobatt’s unique 9 Stage Charging and Maintenance Process.

Qualification Phase:

Initially ensures that the battery is in good condition prior to launching charge processing. As a safety measure charge process will not begin if the battery is below 2V.

Battery Rescue Phase:

Motobatt Battery Rescue starts if the battery voltage has risen unusually high in the early portion of the re-charge cycle. This is usually caused by plate sulfation. Once the battery rescue phase has succeeded in getting the battery to accept power, normal battery charging will begin.

Soft Start Phase:

Soft Start is used when the charger has detected a battery at a very low initial state of charge. Voltage and current are delivered at specified rates to help the battery to recover prior to entering Pulse charge mode.

Pulse Mode Phase:

Motobatt Pulse mode provides a high-frequency pulse charge to help the newly recovered battery to continue to accept charge as it enters the reconditioning phase.

Recondition Phase:

The Motobatt reconditioning phase continues to work the battery at a slightly higher voltage and amperage to “re-activate” the battery plates for improved depth of charge and charge acceptance.

Bulk Charge Phase:

With the battery now through Pulse and reconditioning phases and well on its way to full recovery the Motobatt bulk charge phase gives the battery constant current taking the battery up to 80% of its capacity.

Absorption Phase:

In the Motobatt absorption phase, the battery is given constant voltage while the current is reduced based on action taken from monitoring the batteries current state until the battery is 100% charged.

Check Phase:

The battery will now be checked to be sure that it is holding a charge properly and the charger will make a determination and classify the battery for use, or not.

Maintenance Phase:

The battery can be safely left on the charger indefinitely. The unit will monitor the battery and “turn-on” again as needed to maintain the battery at a full state of readiness.

Motobatt batteries are manufactured from Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), this design has revolutionised the motorcycle, ATV, lawnmower and small engine industry. QuadFlex provides a unique four-terminal design with two positives, two negatives along with height spacers that permit an almost universal fit. All Motobatt AGM Batteries are maintenance free, non-hazardous, non-spill, charged and ready to install directly out of the box.

Each plate in the battery is wrapped in a fiberous glass matting which not only absorbs all liquid electrolyte but keeps the plates separated in a cushioned environment. This stops the plates from vibrating which can breakdown the plate and cause short circuits between the plates or break plate welds which result in battery failure. The thick, heavy plates used in Motobatt designs really make the difference.

AGM batteries also have a much lower inherent self-discharge rate than wet flooded types. Cell Balancing Circuit (CBC)

Motobatt’s Cell Balancing Circuit or CBC for short gives their range of Pro Lithium batteries an edge over the competition. The dynamic cell balancing provides the ultimate in cell control giving superior performance, life span and safety.

Each Motobatt Lithium battery contains a unique CBC which always controls the charge/discharge of the cells, especially when experiencing unreliable current during use. Most other batteries only have their CBC in the charging system, this only provides proper control and balance when the unit is connected to a wall socket.

Due to the CBC technology, Motobatt Pro Lithium batteries can be recharged* when flat (below 10V) allowing them to last longer and provide more power to your motorcycle.
